NOTTINGHAM ROBIN HOOD BEER FESTIVAL
2011
Thursday 13th to Saturday 15th
October
The annual Nottingham Robin Hood beer festival is again to be held at its
customary haunt at Nottingham Castle from Thursday 13th to Saturday
15th October 2011.
The intention of the organisers is to beat the record 2010 total of different
real ales of 848 over the course of the festival.
The usual variety of golden ales,
milds, bitters, porters, fruit beers, stouts and barley wines will be on offer along with a great selection
of traditional ciders and perries plus an assortment of country wines.
Opening times:
Thur 13th October: 11.00am to 11.00pm
Fri 14th October: 11.00am to 11.00pm
Sat 15th October: 11.00am to 11.00pm
There is no planned Sunday
session although this could change depending on stocks.
Advance Tickets
Entrance to the festival is
by cash on the gate or by advanced tickets. In previous years, the only way to guarantee entrance on the busier
periods such as Friday evening and all of Saturday is to purchase tickets in advance.
You can buy tickets on-line, at Nottingham Tourist Info or by
calling 0871 231 0847 but please note calls cost 10p per
minute from a standard BT land line, mobiles and other networks may vary, and there will also be a booking fee
and transaction charge.
Mini Tokens and Glass Hire
Facilities
The purchase of beer is by token and commemorative glasses will be marked for both half and third pint
measures. As a result, tokens will be different from previous years to allow for the purchase of alcohol in
both half and third pint quantities
Remember that no cash is taken at the bars with a view to increase speed and efficiency
Admission Package
To speed up entry there will again be a package admission price.
A £12.50 admission price
will gain you entry, a commemorative glass (lined at both a
third and a half pint) and ten mini-tokens.
CAMRA members will
receive a further five mini-tokens on presentation of a valid membership card
By bringing your own glass, you will receive a further five mini-tokens in lieu of a commemorative tankard
(your glass must be Government stamped and if you
want to drink thirds make sure it has the appropriate measurement line on it!).
The new-issue “mini-token”
will be half the size of the previous beer tokens and will be used in multiples, so for example a third of a
lower strength beer might be two mini-tokens and a half pint will cost three, with higher strength drinks
proportionately increased.
No Under 18's
As per usual licensing requirements,
nobody under the age of 18 can be admitted to the festival
Ticket holders or those seeking to gain admission to the event to purchase
alcohol must provide proof of being over 18 if requested to do so. Nottingham CAMRA supports the challenge 21
initiative.
Children
Parents who bring children into the event are
permitted to enter through the main castle entrance (operated by
the City Council) but they must
vacate the site before 5.00pm.
Only adults above the age of 18 will be allowed to purchase a glass, beer tokens
and receive a hand stamp authorising them to buy alcohol.
